Ellen Winter is Director of Research and Development for Out of the
Box Publishing. OTB, the fastest growing game publisher in the U.S., has produced a wide range of games, from party games, such as Apples to Apples, to board, card, dice, and skill games. Ellen is responsible for game content and rules, and is involved in all other decisions on game play and product development. She has worked with many of the top game designers from around the world to produce dozens of award winning titles. Ellen grew up playing games and continued the tradition with her own family. Her masters in educational psychology and career as an educator and curriculum specialist provided the perfect foundation for developing game content and rules. Her personal interest in games that engage minds and expand skills is seen in her promotion of the educational value of games. In fact she has created links on the OTB website providing information on the educational goals and standards met by specific games. Ellen believes that every game should be engaging, challenging, and a way to know yourself and others a little bit better...and to have fun, lots of fun! Ellen will primarily be attending the convention on Friday & Saturday. Her current schedule (always subject to change) includes running Cloud 9 (Fri.9am), MixUp Prerelease (Fri.12pm), CoverUp Prerelease (Fri.1pm), AbridgeD Prerelease (Sat.10am), Bosworth (Sat.11am), Tutankhamen (Sat.3pm), Snorta 17+ (Sat.9pm), and a seminar, Game Design & Publication: What Makes A Game Work (Sat.1pm). She will also be playing in games of Power Grid, MegaCarcasonne, 30 Days On Earth, the Apples To Apples Variant (including a Prerelease of Apples To Apples Party Expansion 2), and the specialty event Apples To Apples Variant 17+ event. Beside those, you never know what she may join in to play! |
