CODC13 on was a success.

V Wetherholt

There were around 400 guests this year.  There was enough space for all the games going on and we believe fun ws had by all.  This year we provided pipe&drape for the registration area.  Our green and silver drape color matched the giant Cthulhu showcasing this years theme. A special thanks to Dr. Allen and the COD Sci/Fi & Fantasy Club for providing this excellent venue.  We hope to do this again next year.

Concentric 2008 was small but mighty this year.

V Wetherholt

There is always a challenge when switching to a new location.  We moved from the FOP Lodge to the Sugar Grove Community Center. The attendance was exactly the same as last year.  Sugar Grove seemed to be a bit to far to travel for some.  But for those that attended the reviews were excellent with no complaints reaching our ears (which is unusual). We were able to provide food at this location for a very reasonable price. This also brought good reviews. We are evaluating whether this site would be best for next year.  It was easy to find and had planty of space.  There is even a nearby motel for out of town guests.

Anthony Gallela the Executive Director of GAMA plans to step down.

V Wetherholt

After seven years dedicated to improving GAMA and its programs, Anthony Gallela has decided to get back into the private sector full-time. Anthony has every intention of remaining involved in GAMA. He has been asked by members of the board to head up some committees and fill any board seat that opens in the future.

GAMA announces that the position of ED is open as of today, and they will be taking résumés for a month. The hiring committee will conduct two weeks of phone interviews after the submission deadline, and then will conduct face-to-face interviews in Columbus in mid-November. This means that Anthony will be working part-time as the ED starting in October and going until at least late November.

GAMA has come a long way in the past seven years. GAMA listened to members and added dozens of programs to our offerings. GAMA has become more involved in the greater entertainment and entertainment products industry, build bonds and partnerships in Columbus (for Origins and more), and successfully weathered several serious storms. GAMA currently offers one of the best membership packages of any similar association, and GTS and Origins just had their best years ever.

Anthony said, "I’m very proud to have lead some very talented people in accomplishing these goals, but frankly, I have to give them credit for doing the work. Our staff and volunteers are awesome!  Working with you all has been my greatest joy. I look forward to seeing you every year as an exhibitor!!  So I’m hanging up my hat, but I will always be available to the board, staff, and volunteers once I move on. I am proud to have served the industry as GAMA’s ED, and as I am a service-oriented kinda guy (18 years in the Air Force Reserve and still going!), I will continue to serve the industry in new ways."
